Two of my most popular mosaics are the Beechwood project mosaic and Channel project for the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Both incorporate natural stones, pebbles, and rocks in their design and I believe that this contributes to their popularity!

Here are a few reasons why I think people enjoy pebbles and rocks within mosaic art so much:

  • The repetitive pattern of stone satisfies and soothes the soul
  • The permanence and strength of stone makes us feel safe and secure
  • The earthly material of stone connects us to mother nature and the foundations of our planet beneath our feet
  • The ancient spirit of stone reminds us of our ancestors and some of the earliest art created by humans, like the beautiful cave drawings on stone walls from long ago
  • The stones remind us of the rocks that we used to skip in streams or lakes and play games with, back in our childhood
  • The familiarity of the unique pebbles we sometimes collect at the beach or rocks on a trail, symbolizing found treasures

My friends, family, and followers all agree that the lithomosaics I make that incorporate pebbles, stones, and rocks are among their favorites. If you are interested in seeing more of my work, visit the gallery. For inquiries about upcoming projects, contact me using the link above!
